Friends of Cardiff Reservoirs

The Friends Group was set up by Welsh Water in conjunction with RAG in 2021.  The plan was that the Friends group would eventually take over from RAG, which was set up as a campaigning group and will shortly be enacting its dissolution procedures, having acheived its aims of saving the reservoirs for the enjoyment of future generations.

The role of the Friends group is to give local people the oportunity to engage with the reservoirs and to assist in their protection, conservation, and enhancement.

The group has already helped with woodland management, collecting and planting native flower seed, developing a nature trail and building dry stone walls.  Members also helped to plant the new floating islands on Lisvane reservoir, and to marshall visitors to the reservoirs in the weeks after they re-opened.
